February Happenings

Due to some technical difficulties last week (i.e. My child thinks the card reader is a phone and carried it off to talk on it, so it was lost) I was unable to post, but things are all good again this week. Here are some of the things we have done in the last 2 weeks.

Reflux Test:
As some of you may have known our wee one has been sick a lot lately and in January they decided she not only had a badder infection, but a possible kidney infection too so we had to take our wee one to Primary Children's Hospital and get a Reflux Test. The test wasn't a pleasant one and Phoebe sure screamed a lot, but no needles were involved so it could have been worse. Luckily in the end they read the test as negative for reflux so that is great!! For a reward for the traumatizing test we took Phoebs out for an ice cream treat at Coldstone, she shared a shake with daddy.
Denny's Feeding America:
As was advertised during the Superbowl, Denny's had a free Grand Slam Breakfast for everyone in America, which included us. We had to go to 3 different Denny's before we could even get in a parking lot, but it was worth it. We waited for 2 hours before eating, but they told us to wait inside so our children wouldn't freeze, so it wasn't that bad of a wait. Below are some pictures of our outing with our cousins and Grandma Fergy.

Temple Open House:
Last week we had the opportunity to take the whole family to the Draper Temple Open house. It was a snowy Tuesday morning so the temple was practically empty. We went to a stake center to watch a video about the temple and Draper then boarded a bus to the temple. The Temple is smaller, but just as beautiful as always. Phoebe loved the bus ride!!

Hygiene is the Name of the Game

Phoebe was siting on our counter as I was curling her hair when I thought she was playing in the water I didn't notice that she got a hold of Daddy's toothbrush. She then, when I was putting the hot iron out of reach, scooted her little body into the sink as it was a little seat made just for her. She loved the mintiness of toothpaste and would eat it straight, if we didn't stop her.
As she had already defiled the brush, we continued to let her play with it, it is one of her favorite toys now.

The Many Faces of Phoebe

Does she remind you of anyone???
She even had the ideal blond hair and blue eyes.
-
So she has this sill purple boa she stole from our neighbors house and feather are constantly shedding on it and this one stuck to her nose. It didn't seem to bother her, she went around the house the whole night like that.

Okay sue us, our favorite food group is Dark Chocolate Mint Ice cream.
-
I always get free ice cream from cold stone on my B-day and this year I used my coupon for a lunch date with Phoebs. She has always loved chocolate and ice cream and the two together is creation only God could have made himself.

Party, Party, Party in the Fergy Home

Opposed to the look on this wee ones face we were really happy and excited about a couple things last week.

Exciting Event #1:
Cory was made an Associate Architect in his office- PGAW Architects. This came with a pay raise and the promise that when the economy picks up, he will be made a jr partner (more money, a car, & ownership of part of the company). We are thrilled to have him finally graduate from a draftsman to Associate Architect. To celebrate this, his office took some pictures of Cory in a suite and are posting them along with his other accomplishments one of which is his LEED AP Cedidation- meaning he's certified to build Eco Friendly, which already landed the company 2 buildings. I will let you all know when to look for him in the Deseret News, Salt Lake Tribune & The Enterprise. It will be in the section: People on the Move.

Exciting Event #2:
Last Monday was my birthday, yes I am actually 29...so old! We started off the day with Phoebe's gifts to mommy. She brought me two pads. They were my brand and everything. Yes my drawer with all my girly stuff is her favorite play area, she is always in there and she must have stolen some out to give me as a present.

Cory gave me movies and clothes, my 2 other favorite gifts besides pads.

My Parents gave me clothes, including the green scarf you see on Phoebe, she claimed this the second she saw it! They also gave be a large multi use bag which we used to stuff Phoebs in. I think they had my sewing machine in mind when they bought it, but oh well it's mine now and I can use it to carry my child in like she was a small dog if I want to.
Overall my b-day was a great, a non-stop party fest as demonstarted below:

Hair, Body & Crib Fun

This week I decided that I could do fancy hair for Phoebe and create two back piggy tails and I was proud of my accomplishment until Aunt Charisse had to way out do me and create a "web" in Phoebe's hair that even stayed in for 3 days apposed to the normal 4 hrs that my dos stay in Phoebe's hair. I don't think I am meant to have girly girls; I stink at hair and makeup.
This past week I have been painting a couple wood projects in time for Valentines day which has not gone unnoticed by our ever so observant Phoebo. She loves to now play with my dry paint plate and paintbrush. She carries that paintbrush all over the house pretending she is painting the couch, floor, stairs, etc.

Everyday when we come in to get Phoebe out of her crib it is amusing to see what she is up to. Sometimes she is standing and jumping, sometimes she is reading a book to herself she reached from the bookshelf, and sometimes she is just sitting swing her legs through the bars. She loves to play in her crib and sometimes we listen to her plating for hours before she falls asleep. One thing is for sure what ever she is up to in her crib it must be very troublesome because she says "uh-oh" about 75 times repeatedly...it's like we live in a Cuckoo clock.

January's Resolution: Reverance

I wrote a couple weeks ago that it was a resolution of our to teach Phoebe one new nursery lesson/principal a month, this month we are teaching how to be reverent. I admit that is a big topic for our wee one so we broke it down to no screaming & no playing, during prayers instead we fold our arms and sit quietly; some days she is much better than others at accomplishing this. Since we have taught her to fold her arms to pray sometimes in the middle of the day at random times she folds her arms and is ready for prayers so we stop whatever we are doing and pray with her...we are trying to encourage this good behavior.
The nursery program recently received a new manual which I bought 2 weeks ago and it is suppose to be easier to teach from which I am thankful for as I am the newest nursery leader in our ward. Contrary to what many think of nursery I am excited to have this calling. I will not be in Phoebe's nursery, but in the 2yrs old+ nursery; I am happy about this. Also, for those of you who are not our neighbors, Cory also got a new calling last week: Asst. Ward Clerk (Financial Clerk)...he is not as excited about his calling as I am, but my lovable Penny Pincher will be good at his calling.

Cory's Final Test Result Is In

For over a month now, I have been running to the mailbox everyday to hopefully find the letter with Cory's final test results and yesterday was finally our lucky day after only 9 1/2 short weeks.

We started off our surprise celebration but getting some fancy root beer and cookies from Costco to take into Cory's office. I called ahead and told their office manager Marylin that I was coming with good news and she gave out shout of joy. She told me that she has been waiting for 3 weeks now to order business cards for the whole office until Cory got all of his tests back. She wanted to include in the order Cory's first business cards that read: Cory Ferguson -Architect and Leed AP Certified.

Last night we had over the whole Fergy clan and celebrated with the ever so classy 5 Buck pizza and pop. His sisters put together a candy sign as a gift & mom bought Cory The Might Ducks 1&2 DVD, because he graduated from the UofO (Oregon Ducks).

Everyone had a fun time celebrating, especially Cory who was on cloud 9 for the rest of the night. Our 3 year licensing internship will be all over in a couple of short weeks now. YEAH!!!

Good job Honey, we are all so proud of you!!!

Sick Baby Woes

For a whole year Phoebe was healthy, but her first birthday opened up the Pandora Box of sickness.
October: Hands, Foot & Mouth Disease
November: Hear Infection
December: Conjuctivitus (Pink Eye)
January: ?
On Friday Phoebe started to feel warm and was a bit whiny, but nothing abnormally bad. On Friday night when I got Phoebe up from her name, her cheeks were an unrealistic red and she has a temp of 103.5. That night she last relatively well. On Saturday she once again had a a temp of 103.5 and we couldn't get it to go down but for an hour or two before it was up sky high again. That afternoon I took her to the Drs convinced she must have another ear infection. When the Dr. looked at her he was sure it was an ear infection as well so he looked there first, but nope, perfectly clean healthy ears. He then checked her throat and nose, nope perfect there too. For a last resort he had to use a catheter to check her bladder, that test came back with no real problems, but he sent it to a lab to double check anyway, due to a couple white cells showing up. This isn't always sign of an infection, but it isn't always normal either. That night was a nightmare, with her refusing to sleep or even be out down. The next day we of course stayed home from church as her fever was uncontrollable. She started the day at 104 and then went up to 105.4. At this point I began to really worry and took her back to the Drs office. The Dr quickly looked at her and told us how glad he was we returned because they got a positive test for bacteria.

January's illness:
Bladder infection

When will all this stop?!?! My poor nerves can't handle much more of this, not to mention our poor wallets, and our poor cutey pie Phoebs.

Coloring time with Phoebe

As a dollar spot gift from Target, Phoebe received her first pack of crayons. There are 12 colors and have Spiderman on them, I tried to find more girly crayons, but Spidyman it had to be. She now loves coloring, or scribbling on her papers all the time. We are trying to teach her the concept of not coloring with the blunt side of the crayon, but she will have none of that. I guess each artist has their own mode and style of working.

New Years & Date Night

Okay, so I got a little ahead of myself in blog posts so I will go back and cover a few events in the turn of the new year.

New Years:
For us New Years has always been a bit uneventful and rarely do we stay up to greet the new year and this year was no exception. We started off the eve by going to Medico's home to break in their new chocolate fountain. After we completely gorged ourselves, we went to play games for the rest of the night...okay not really the rest of the night, just until we welcomed in our version of New Years at about 9:40 pm. We made sure to take a picture with the clock so you can check out how lame we are. To celebrate bringing in 9:40pm we popped open a bottle of Martenelli's finest and enjoyed the 2008 vintage. When we were done we drove home and were all in bed by 10:30...now that's my style of partying.

Date Night:
January's Date night was hosted by the Folwer's and we learned to play Bunko. I had never played this game before, but everyone assured me how fun it was and the were right! I loved the game and would probably would love to own it myself if you didn't have to have 12 people to play it. As is normal for us, Phoebe joined us for the Date Night extravaganza. She played in Zoee's room and found some beautiful necklaces and a lush purple boa to adorn her self in . She then came out to show the whole group how beautiful she was. I was a little surprised she could dress herself up herself; she is getting to be such a big girl.
