Fergy August Tidbits 2014

We started off August by taking a family field trip to Home Depot to build free kids pencil holders. All the kiddos had fun making these well mainly painting them (Cory and I built them). For weeks after this workshop the kiddos had fun playing school with them.
During the month of August I found time were I was unsentimental enough to get around to empty Sophie's drawers and closet of 2T clothing, which is mostly too small for her now. My girls get so much clothing from having 2 girls wear the same size that this big mound is what a size change looks like when Sophie is done.
In August we ventured out to one of our church's play group and found a cute new splash pad in Riverton that was mostly empty! I had my niece and nephew with me this day while Phoebe was in school.
During the month of August we were luckily enough to win some tickets to the county fair rodeo. We won 6 tickets, but I convinced Cory to only take 2 girls with him on a date there since I was unable to go with him. These 2 girls loved it! They started off a bit bored, but at one point they played "What Does a Fox Say" and the girls began dancing up a storm and from then on didn't want to leave, but the rodeo went on way late into the night so eventually they had to.
For Josh's daddy date in August he with with Cory to the West Jordan Water conservatory to learn about bugs, which he really liked and has since pointed out a million of.
I am actually not sure what this is a picture of but I love how Sophie put her plate down on the ground and is just longingly looking outside into the back yard.
Phoebe had her School pictures taken in the month of August. I had to snap a cute pic in our kitchen before she left for school that day. A couple weeks later when we got the pics I quickly saw that it was the wrong background and instead of being the generic blue it was a crazy fall background. I had them fix it. I, however, liked her sassy pose in the fall looking pic. Phoebe was super excited to tell me that she didn't actually go anywhere for this pic, it she just stood in front of a "blue" screen and the rest was magic.
I became handy woman of the year in August by you tubing a video of how to replace the heating element in our dryer and then ordering the part and doing it all myself. I am super proud of myself and it was done at a tiny fraction of  what it could have cost calling a repair man to fix it.
In the middle of August the twins had their semi annual trip to the dentist and found out Cami had another cavity. AHH it is always her and it is so frustrating to me!
August brought about another first for me, LDS YW GIRLS CAMP. I was a bit nervous to go, mainly because I really dislike camping and partially because I wasn't sure what to expect. My neighbor came over bright and early and we both headed to the church and then up to camp in the rain.
My super cute family took this picture and sent it to my in the way up before I lost reception. Camp was fun, although I still would not choose to camp out side of the house voluntarily.
All year long we have enjoyed 9 am church, which means every Sunday our family enjoys a snugly Sunday nap. It always makes me smile to see Sophie enjoying hers with her daddy, I LOVE IT.
At the end of the month we had to take advantage of 2 Buck Tuesdays at Thanksgiving Point. This year we went with my SIL Julie and her kiddos. We visited our favorite farm to ride the ponies, an annual must for my kiddos! This year we also got to milk a cow, which all the kiddos thought was fun.
During the month of August I had to fit in three kiddos dates to go get first day of school clothes and a treat. I somehow missed getting a pic of Cami, but she went on this annual mommy date too. I was in shock that Sophie had to get a first day of school outfit all ready; my baby starting school already. It is funny how all my kiddos have very different shopping personalities. Cami only wants to play with Legos or watch the movie in the stores and is happy with whatever I pick out as long as it's bright and crazy. Sophie makes me pick something out and then tells me, "Yeah I'll wear that" in a very flat uninterested to be shopping tone. Josh, on the other hand, LOVES shopping and wants tons of outfits. For him you can never have too many clothes. He is absolutely my kindred shopping spirit!
In the end of August right before we left for our Oregon trip, I canned 25 quarts of pears. Canning pears was a first for me since 2009 and even then I think my MIL did them for me. I was super proud that I did these all by myself and they were so pretty and white  looking in their jars.
August now seems like forever ago, it was over all a pretty wet month here, but we managed to still pack in lots of end of summer fun!
