Sophie's Cinco de Mayo Fiesta

On Cinco de Mayo this year our little Sophie Marie turned ONE! Her festivities started with a visit and gift from Grandma Fergy, we then had messy crepes for breakfast followed of course by a bath! Sophie then got dolled up in her new party dress, opened all the gifts from us (the car seat and beanbag) and the tons of goodies Grandma&pa Potts brought for her birthday.
After naps we headed to grandma Fergy's to have her birthday Fiesta.  I was highly disappointed at the weather, however.  The week prior it was in the 80s and on her birthday it was 58 and freezing cold because the lam-o wind would not stop blowing. BOO!  I had a cuter set up planned in my mind, but due to venue changes and weather flops we had it in grandma Fergy's backyard. In spite of how I pictured it I think it still turned out pretty cute and it was good that we had it at grandma Fergy's so we could eventually all out inside and thaw out. We had a full taco bar complete with almost any fixing you could want.  For dessert we had jello cookies and cherry lime-aid cupcakes.  I only got one bit of one, but it tasted pretty good to me!

I know Phoebe doesn't look like she is having fun, but it's because she was cold and didn't want to eat...what's new? After discovering the princess tent with her cousin she perk right up. Cami was ready to party not matter how frozen she was. Poor Sophie was banished at her birthday dinner to the play area by herself so we could all enjoy dinner.

After our fine Mexican fare it was time for some Fergy Photo fun. We made all the families dress up and park take in the fun!
After pictures e sang a quick song so Sophie and the rest could dig in to the yummy dessert. I couldn't get a candle pick because the wind was blowing so hard it just kept blown the match and candle out. Sophie dug in her cupcake, but really she wan't hardly interested in it so she remained relatively clean.
While setting up the next activity, the pinata, my nieces performed a Mexican party dance they had learned in school, cute! It was then on to the pinata for smashing time; we went in order from yougest to oldest.  So it naturally started with Sophie.  The bat was to heavy for her so we helped her smash at the pinata with a maraca.
The pinata candy feast was followed by pin the tail on the donkey which my cute niece Emma won, she was so thrilled with her cupcake sucker prize & kept asking what we play next.
After pin the tail we all quickly cleaned up and went inside to thaw out for a bit before heading home.  Sophie partied it up so hardy that she didn't make it home before falling asleep. This was just a cat nap, however, shorty after this she was up partying until 10pm when we finally just made her go to bed which she was NOT happy about, poor birthday girl.
I have always wanted to have a fun Cinco de Mayo party so I am thrilled that Sophie chose to be born on the perfect Mexi-American holiday & I can see now there will be so many more fun fiestas in our future!

Fun & Festivities with Grandpa & Grandma Potts

This year Grandma & pa Potts chose to come visit us in time for Sophie's 1st fiesta, which unfortunately made it so we couldn't really get to a fun trip until one of their lat days here. This year we took a little trip to one of our favorite places, the aquarium.
After the aquarium Phoebe went to preschool and then came home to get into my make-up and doll herself up for our mandatory trip to Golden Corral, one of my dad's favorite places. As e sat down at the table he firsts words out of Phoebe's mouth were, "Where's my chocolate ice-cream?" She obviously remembers this place for the huge ice-cream bar. Much to her dismay we did make her eat dinner, however small it was, before she was her ice-cream. As a added treat this time Golden corral had a man making balloon characters for all the kids!
One of the things that Phoebe L-O-V-E-S the most about grandma Potts visiting is the one thing that I loved growing up too and that is watching grandma Potts get ready for the day, doing her hair and make-up. Grandma even humored the girls and got them all beautified too.
On the last morning we all just hug out a bit relaxing before the sad departure.
We always LOVE it so much when Grandma&pa Potts come visit with the doggies and their "big car" aka motor-home that we wish we didn't live so far away and they could visit us so much more!

Not so Tiny Bubbles...

Lately I have had a few more trials with my children than I have really cared for. My troubles mainly stem from red headed twins toddlers. Cami is one that only needs a blink of time to find trouble. As she demonstrated with a WHOLE bottle of dish soap in the sink. We do have child locks, but they mean nothing to her so since this we have now double locked this cabinet from her.
The real sad part is this was only the precursor for her to dumping a WHOLE bottle of bubble bath on our bathroom floor and then dancing in it the next day. The floor was so slippery when I discovered her I could barely stand.  Please tell me this too soon will pass...my blood pressure can't take many more of these days & weeks of this.

April Daddy Dates

For April's Daddy Dates the kids a chose what they wanted to do. Phoebe chose to ride her "motorcycle" at the neighborhood park and then get ice cream with daddy. Before this night we have tried to teach Phoebe several time how to pedal and it has taken, but Cory said to night she sat down and took off like she has been doing it for years; silly girl has been hiding this new found skill from us.

Cami really wanted to go to the farm and see the animals like Josh had done the previous month. She did get a bit to close to some geese, however and they gave her a bit of a fright, poor girl! I completely understand that one, when I was 5yrs old I got chased & bit on the bum by a goose and to this day I am still nervous to get near them. Cory said Cams true love was the big green tractor; she hopped right on and steered forever. Cory said he stood their for a long time as she played on it was afraid he was never going to be able to leave.

Josh's date was bit last minute this month and so on the last day of April Josh got to go on a special lunch date with daddy to Chic-fil-a. Cory said Josh cared little to nothing about the food but instead was completely engrossed in their awesome play area.  Too bad the date was so short, Josh had a hard time coming home, but maybe next month this little dudes can have a longer daddy date.
