Sew Determined: August & September Editions

For August's sewing project I took it easy and just completed a project I have always wanted to do, a fabric Birthday Banner.  I  did it the hard way in that I found a font I liked on the computer then cute it out then pinned it to fabric and Heat Bond and cute the letters out again; the easy way would just to be iron on letters in the first place.  Oh well it makes mine more unique. It turned out pretty cute in my opinion, perfect for any birthday we have at the ole Fergy residence.

For September's sewing project I made a car seat tent, which is another thing that has been on my to do list for ever. This was a really easy project that I tried to make more difficult than it was really meant t be by adding embellishments that I eventually tore off in several stages and had to resew 3 different times.  Really all you need to do is have 1 1/4yd of top  fabric and 1 yd of under fabric and then take the top fabric cute it to 1yd and sew the two together you can round the corners or not then with the extra top fabric make some handles, they can Velcro, tie, or button.  Then embellish with anything else you like. I made this tent for a baby  shower gift and not obviously for my babies who just grew out of their infant carseats.

Weekend Recap (pt.2 Labor Day Fun)

Every year on labor day weekend we have our annual Fergy Family Camp-out in grandma/pa Fergy's backyard.  This year was the best yet!  We started our venture after church and brief naps.  When 't know  we arrived Grandma had kites for all the kids to choose from.  Phoebe chose a frog kite which she LOVES.  She doesn't know what a kite is or does, but we put it together and she likes holding it in the car. Brother got an airplane kite while Cami got a Ladybug one, theirs are still in the packaging waiting until their are old enough not to eat them.

We were then treated to dinner and a show, for dinner we had dutch oven potatoes and 2 yummy kinds of chicken.  I was on the fence about dutch oven cooking, but after this meal I am won over, it was DELICIOUS!  For the show we enjoyed Zack putting on cousin Lily's boots and then fighting her keep them on his feet and she was trying to rip them off saying no these are mine pink boots.

For dessert we rosted marshmallows in grandma's new fire pit. It was a lot if fun, but also nerve racking as the little kids refused to sit and kept running by the fire pit. Uncle Davey had to of course be different from the rest of use roasting with sticks he had to roast his mallow on a twig of a log.  

We chose not to camp with the rest of the family because as a general rule unless Cory and I are homeless we don't camp. The next morning however we got up early and went back to grandmas to eat and play more.  Cami and Josh both had their first times in the baby swing, as you can see by their faces, they loved it!  Phoebe insisted on being the one to do the pushing.

Phoebe loves to swing, but as brother and sister were occupying it Phoebe took it upon herself to find a ride of her own.  This a Barbie horse she is riding and you can see her and her cousin Lily didn't think it the slightest bit strange she is rinding this mini horse, in fact she wanted a turn, but only a 20 lbs Phoebe could ride this house with no damage to the horse.

This weekend was so much fun that I was truly sad when the time came to head home again.

Weekend Recap (pt.1 Misc Happening)

This past weekend my oldest niece Savannah turned 8 years old so she was able to be baptized in our church (LDS). It was a lot of fun to she how genuinely excited she was for her baptism. The service was nice and short since she was the only one on the program. Afterwards we enjoyed and wonderful lunch at her house and she shared with us a very wonderful testimony. She is soo grown up from when I first met her when she 3 yr old and she didn't speak much to me except to tell me that black was her favorite color.

For the rest of Saturday we were able to relax and enjoy family time.  On Sunday as we got ready for church we picked out the outfits but when I told Phoebe to pick out her shoes and socks she came out as we were dressing the twins and reveled to us her pick of shoes and socks. Oh silly girl!!!  I guess next time  I will have to be more specific on the shoes I want her to pick from.  Everyday Phoebe does at least one crazy  thing that catches us totally by surprise and is just cracks me up.

Say Say oh Playmate...

Everyday around here is getting better.  As the twins are more mobile and active, Phoebe turns to them to play with and relies less on me and movies to entertain her for 10hrs of the day (YEAH!). With is then comes the good and the bad.  I love that she wants to play with hem, but it is all too common to hear Phoebe in the twiners room playing around when they were or are suppose to be taking naps, in fact we have had many timeouts over it. When I walk in Phoebe is always in Cami's crib jumpin' round.  Cami laughs and thinks it's great fun unless her sister tangles her up in the net then she gets agitated.

The twins as they can both crawl & sit themselves up on their own follow each other to play with the same objects & or the same trouble.  I love that they crawl over and interact with each other on a constant bases, they really are going to be the best of friends.

Two Buck Tuesday (2)

Every Year Thanksgiving Point has 2 Buck Tuesdays where everyone can get into each venue for only 2 bucks instead of the normal $8. Last year we went to the largest Dinosaur museum in the nation and the farm.  This year I really wanted to see the gardens and then we made a return visit to the farm for Phoebs. The Gardens were amazing! They have kids gardens and then real gardens, me mainly blew by the kids garden because they were nothing special and there were too many kids playing on everything already. The grownup gardens house the worlds largest man made waterfalls, which is something I have always wanted to see.  You can walk above and below them.  Here is a shot at th top of them, note non of the kids would cooperate for a photo.

After the falls the gardens are laid out in a HUGE circle.  Next it was the rose gardens where a huge gorgeous wooden trellis surrounds one side of it. 

Besides specific gardens which all have names, such as the rose garden, fragrance garden, secret garden, etc...they just have tons of generic (no named) beautiful panoramic garden setups set around. 

The Italian garden was something to behold with all of its fountains.  I counted it is a 34 teared fountain.  The water garden has more Koy in its pond then I think I have ever seen in one spot before.  The fish have learned that people=food, so when they see your shadow hundreds of fish swim over just in hopes that you will throw a spec of food their way.  Of course Phoebe loved these two gardens with all the water and fish.

At the end of our walk we ended up at the bottom of the falls where they have a huge rolling hill that many kids were rolling down.  Phoebe however just wanted to make us run down it with her and carry her up multiple times.

After the gardens we stopped at the farm where Phoebe was on cloud nine with all the animals. We have always thought that she would be a great vet because she LOVES animals and has very little to no fear of any of them.

I even got to milk a cow which is something that I had never done before.  It was surprisingly easier than I thought it would be. Phoebe found a fake sheep along the way and wanted to ride it, however it set a bad example for other kids who wanted to do what she was doing so we quickly had to get her down. For the last bit of fun at the farm Phoebe got to ride a pony two times.  This was a dream come true for her and she threw a fit when we finally told her that we couldn't ride it anymore.  Phoebe loved that pony and still asks almost everyday if she can ride a pony today.

Cami and Josh didn't get to ride a pony this year, but you as you can see, I don't think they minded.  They were leaning forward in their seats the whole time to take everything in and Cami even was reaching forward to y and pet some of the animals.  I am a mean mom and never let her, but that is mainly because I knew she would immediately stick her hands in her mouth 2 seconds after petting and the thought grossed me out.

On the way out we trued to put phoebe on the farm scale to see if she was any heavier but she refused to cooperate by herself so as you can see Phoebe and I together weigh 300 lbs s much as 3 newborn calves, I don't think the scale is entirely accurate in our defense. Well, maybe next year we will only weigh as much as 2 goats, which would be more accurate.

As a last note, they had this mini jail in the farm and I thought woun't it be great to have one of these at home.  What a great timeout spot it would be!

10 Mos Old!

As of last Sunday the twiners are now 10 mos old.  Holy Cow!  

In the last month twiner have apparently decided on their own that they are ready to eat and now they eat food 2-3 times. They are still only on baby food, but it is really enjoyable to feed children who willingly open their mouths for food and do not scream that you are making them eat. 

These twins are the most mild mannered children you will probably ever meet.  They are happy to do just about anything and let you dress them up just for fun as with the case of these jackets. A neighbor of Cory's mom was having a garage sale and for a gift he gave a these two brand new coats from Old Navy for the twins.  Upon closer observation however, which he apparently did not give, the tags clearly read "Doggie Coats".  The family all laughed and laughed and told me I had to put them in them anyway and take pictures, so here they are.

These two are partners in crime sister is the speedy crawler in to EVERYTHING and brother is the slower patient bronze half of the duo. Cami learned to climb stairs this month and only took a week to figure out how climb around the chair that we use to block off the stairs; UGH this girl is trouble.  Brother has a good paced army crawl and seems happy to stick to it.  He doesn't try to stand or crawl in his knees.  He did get two more teeth this las month, however, and now he matched his sisters smile with 6 teeth in total.

Sister, Sister...There was never such a devoted sister

In the last couple of months as the twins have continued to become more mobile, Phoebe now recognizes two fun playmates.  She dresses them up and gives them toys to participate in her tea parties with (as is the case in the pictures below).

Phoebe enjoys holding the twins and asks for them to sit in her lap; they usually do not cooperate and wiggle out of her arms, so I new sit them beside her.  When we go to the playground Phoebe almost every time directly asks Cami to come play with her on the "twisty" slide.  I always have to tell her that Cami is too little to play on the twisty slide, but maybe next year.  Phoebe then usually says that she will hold Cami on he twisty slide...yeah I am sure that would end well.

Phoebe is our crazy girl, and in her own unique way she shows her love for her brother and sister more and more each day.  At least once a day she sneaks into the twins room where I find her in brother or sisters crib playing with them, unfortunately it is usually during their supposed nap time.  This morning however Cami was in her crib crying and Phoebe brought me her empty bottle and said "Mom make Cami a bottle please."  What a cute little girl.

As for this picture, it just shows what a tough girl this wee one is.  We didn't get the seatbelt locked into position so when we took a corner our wee one tipped.  She thought it was funny and luckily we were only about 1 mile from Cory's office so we could get her back upright and locked into position in no time.
