Popping by Promontory Point

A couple months ago Cory emailed me about an event happening in May at The Golden Spike and asked me if I would be interested in going, which was a no brainier for me because it involved trains and Josh LOVES trains! We took the opportunity to visit up there, a first for me as well, for the the 143rd anniversary of the driving of the golden spike.
The kids really enjoyed these old fashioned trains and Phoebe especially liked seeing all the people on old fancy dresses.
Phoebe, found a great new love, walking the tracks. Between her and Josh, I spent what seemed like forever just walking back and forth on the track lines.
The day was sunny, but quiet cold & HORRIBLY windy, which was made worse with the dust in the air; I mean it when I said it was windy, we all came home with wicked wind burns! The twins were patient but there isn't really much to do there except see the trains and we didn't know there was going to be a reenactment so we all hung around for 3 hrs looking at trains listening to a not so grand high school band play and waiting. Luckily I had several little libations in my purse to buy time and patience with; unfortunately, some were quiet messy!
Josh and I had to take a walk when food and patience finally were worn out, but it made it so we were able to snap a few pics around the building during the reenactment when the popular picture spots were empty.
As soon as the reenactment finished we hurried back to the car where we could feed the kiddos lunch and finally stop hearing all the we wanna go complaints. This little gem was waiting for us right by our car, we have no clue what he is, but he was about 5-6 ft long and we saw no rattle. Luckily he was quick to slither to the car behind us and eventually to his whole. We loaded up the kiddos making sure none of them ever touched the ground (if you have any clue what kind of snake it is, we are curious).

This was a pretty fun day trip. I don't know if we ever need to do it again, but it was a good Fergy family fun day, especially since daddy took the day off to do it with us!!!

Sounds like you guys had fun. That snake is a blow snake... Not poisonous but probably still painful if you get bit.
